Ford Performance engineers sharpen all aspects a vehicle to make it perform better than its base counterparts. For enthusiasts, this higher level of performance is just a better jumping off point. That is definitely the case with Lethal Performance, which is known to jump headfirst into modding a new project, whether it is a Focus ST or a Shelby GT350.
As you know from reading the Front Page, Team Lethal didn’t even leave the lot at Weikert Ford in Lake Wales, Florida, before letting driver Billy Johnson destroy its tires in Drift Mode. From there it gained window tint, Redline Tuning hood lifts and the company’s signature skull and crossbones on its flanks.
In keeping with the theme of improving the looks of its hot hatch, the company wanted to kick off its performance modifications with something that also improves the car’s looks. That dual-threat mod is a set of suspension springs that lower the car. As such, they selected Eibach Springs Pro-Kit springs for the 2016 Focus RS (PN EIB-E10-35-023-14-22; $285.95).
“Figured some of you would like to see what it takes to install a set of the new Eibach lowering springs so I headed down to Power by the Hour Performance in Boynton Beach to follow the install,†Lethal posted on our forums. “The rears are very easy to do. The fronts take a little more time and elbow grease to get done but aren’t that bad.â€
The Eibach Pro-Kit lowers the new Focus RS—0.7 inches in front and 1.1 inches in the rear—to set the stance and lower the center of gravity. The result is said to sharpen handling while maintaining excellent ride quality. The Team Lethal details the complete installation process in the forum post linked below and the company seems happy with the results.
“The car rides just like it did before but looks way better now that it’s missing that big gap up front and in the rear,†says the company.
