Right-hand-drive 2015 Mustangs are headed to the United Kingdom

Since January 2,000 customers in the United Kingdom have ordered 2015 Mustangs, and dealers there have ordered additional stock to keep pace with demand. The first of the right-hand-drive S550s meant for UK consumption have rolled off the assembly line at Flat Rock and are headed across the pond, and those will be well-optioned models

“So far, 80 percent of UK customers have opted for the fastback body style over the convertible and 70 percent have specified the 416PS 5.0-liter V8 engine over the more fuel-efficient 317PS 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine,” says Ford. “Mustang’s six-speed manual transmission is the slightly more popular choice (55 percent) over the six-speed automatic, which comes with sporty SelectShift paddle control.”

It seems that Mustang fans in the UK have been waiting to get their hands on Mustang Fastbacks with 5.0-liter V-8s and manual transmissions. While the right-hand-drive S550 starts at £29,995 for an EcoBoost model and £33,995 for a 5.0-liter GT, so far the customers there aren’t afraid to check off a few more options. Over half the cars have been ordered with the Custom Pack, which includes a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats, a rear-view camera, Luster Nickel silver alloy wheels, and extra chrome exterior accents.

Speaking of the interior and exterior, Ebony is by far the top interior trim color in the first batch of Mustang orders, making up 80 percent of the order. Saddle and Ceramic interiors trail far behind at 10 percent each. On the outside, it is Race Red that dominates the orders. Most of the early Mustang adopters want to be seen, while the next most popular paint schemes are the more low-key Black and Magnetic.

Interestingly, UK Mustangs are available with a Thatcham Category One alarm, so they must really be in demand. The first orders are expected for delivery to customers starting in November.
