Are you a fan of Magnaflow’s raucous Competition exhaust systems for the 2015 and newer Mustangs, but you need a more sinister look? If the murdered-out image is what suits you, the company is releasing new systems featuring a black ceramic-coating on the mufflers and tips.
The first production system is debuting at Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this week, and we got our eyes on the kit. It looks great with the black tips, and the ceramic coating employed by Magnaflow is far more durable than a simple flat-black paint job.
The first systems released with this dark-side treatment are full cat-back systems for the 2015+ Mustang GT and EcoBoost. There is also an axle-back for the GT for those that are just looking for improved sound without all the free-flowing goodness of a full cat-back.
As we said, these initial systems are all based on the company’s popular Competition mufflers, which deliver a 100db exhaust note. However, we would imagine that if the systems prove popular, the company might start to offer the black ceramic treatment on more applications.
If you need a refresher on the systems—which are said to deliver power gains of up to 30 horsepower and 25 lb-ft of torque—you can refer back to our story on the original stainless systems.
