Last year the National Mustang Racers Association season closed with several specialty classes on the roster at the World Finals. One of those classes was the result of Livernois Motorsports and your favorite Ford performance site getting together with the NMRA to create a place for the quickest EcoBoost Fords in the country to compete. That place is the EcoBoost Battle, and it returns for three races in 2016.
“The NMRA is thrilled to continue this celebration of Ford’s turbocharged small engine program with this heads-up challenge,†NMRA National Event Director Rollie Miller said. “With three events this year, we’ll determine the quickest and fastest EcoBoost-powered vehicle in the country.â€
EcoBoost racers will have a chance to compete at the beginning, middle and end of the 2016 racing season. The Livernois Motorsports EcoBoost Battle will run at the NMRA Spring Break Shootout in Bradenton, Florida, on March 3-6, the NMRA Ford SuperNationals in Hebron, Ohio, on June 9-12 and the NMRA All-Ford World Finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky, from September 29 to October 2.
While the EcoBoost Battle will see some of the quickest Mustangs in the country squaring off, it is open to any EcoBoost-powered Ford. That includes the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Taurus, Explorer, and F-150, plus the Mustang. The class is really mod friendly and it runs on a .400 Sportsman tree, so it will be fun to see which platform reigns supreme. For more details on the class, you can peep the rules right here.
Racers that compete in the three EcoBoost Battles will also have the opportunity to race free of charge in the True Street classes held on Saturday at each of the three events.
Naturally, SVTP will be on hand covering these events, so we hope to see you and your EcoBoost machines at the races next year.
