There is no doubt that the latest Shelby GT350 and, especially, the GT350R feature the best-sounding exhaust system ever loosed from the factory by Ford. That’s largely due to the active exhaust that opens up the exhaust on demand. Since the R-model lacks resonators before the mufflers, it sounds even more sinister than the base GT350.

Magnaflow’s V8 5.2-liter Competition Series exhaust system (PN 19283; $1,715.52) features 3-inch stainless steel pipes, an integral X-pipe, and 5x8x11-inch Magnaflow Competition mufflers with two tips each.

That said, anyone reading this is rarely going to accept stock, no matter how good it may be. To that end, Magnaflow created a pair of new exhaust systems for the new Shelby. These systems are compatible with the factory dual-mode exhaust, and we have to say they sound pretty great.

You can listen to the system right here…

If you really want to add a racy demeanor to your modded GT350, Magnaflow also offers a dual-mode system featuring four 4-inch carbon fiber tips (PN 19299; $2,100.33).

“The MagnaFlow Competition Series Exhaust Systems are designed for those seeking maximum performance, reduced mass and an aggressive exhaust note that demands attention,” says the company. “These systems may not comply with all local or federal noise requirements.”

Unlike the standard GT350 exhaust, the Magnaflow systems do not feature resonators. Instead, these cat-back systems feature 3-inch, mandrel-bent, 409 stainless steel pipes. They feature an integral X-pipe crossover and feed exhaust out to a pair of Magnaflow’s Competition mufflers, which feature valves that are compatible with the GT350’s exhaust modes.

Magnaflow's testing showed some impressive gains across the powerband. At the peaks it picked up 12.88 horsepower and 17.69 lb-ft of torque. We can't wait to experience this system in person.

Of course, you might have taken note that we said Magnaflow offers two new systems for the Shelby GT350. They are largely the same with the exception of the 4-inch tips. What you see in the video is the polished stainless option (PN 19283; $1,715.52), but there is another option that this writer would have to have! That’s right, Magnaflow offers a version with four, 4-inch carbon-fiber tips (PN 19299; $2,100.33).

And, by the way, if you happen to own a 2015 or 2016 GT, Magnaflow also offers as system (PN 19302; $1,538.46) for these cars featuring two carbon fiber exhaust tips compatible with the GT valance. All three systems come with a lifetime warranty, save for the carbon fiber tips.
