The hottest hardcore hardware we found on the first day of the PRI Show

If you are familiar with the massive spectacle that is The SEMA Show, think of the Performance Racing Industry Show as its hardcore cousin. The Specialty Equipment Market Association owns both the PRI and SEMA events, but PRI is for the real speed freaks, racers, engine builders, and the like. Form takes a backseat to function at this trade show held annually in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Ford Performance Parts offers race car solutions for turnkey buyers with the Cobra Jet and at PRI the Blue Oval performance division announced a solution for the DIY crowd. FPP will sell 2016 Mustang bodies in white for $7,995 under part number M-607100-S550. The bodies should be available in the first quarter of next year. Ford Performance will also offer the 2016 Mustang Competition Kit (PN M-607100-M8) to help racers complete the car for track duty.
It is here where we come to uncover the gear that you’ll want on your Ford race car next season. We spent the first day covering as much ground as possible, and we stirred up some pretty great hardware for you to lust after.
We’ll have more comprehensive coverage in the near future, but for now, check out some of the gear that made us stop and take notice on the opening day of the 2015 show.
Perhaps even more exciting than the S550 bodies, is the rounding out of Ford Performance’s GT350 engine parts offerings. We recently clued you in about the availability of the block, heads and intake. Now, Ford Performance Parts made it official that it will offer the cams (PN M6550-M2) necessary for a cross-plane engine with the GT350 heads (left). FPP even showed off performance figures for this induction atop FPP 5.0 and 5.2 cross-plane short-blocks using the Cobra Jet intake and throttle body. The 5.0 generated 541 horsepower and 408 lb-ft of torque, while the 5.2 delivered an impressive 582 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque.If shifting gears was keeping you from doing a Coyote swap, Ford Performance Parts now has comprehensive Coyote Power Module Engine Kits with Tremec six-speed manuals (M-9000-PMCM; $15,950) and Ford 6R80 six-speed automatics (PN M-9000-PMCA; TBA). They even showed some love for the classic Coyote Fox combo with a sano swap in an ultra-clean 1979 Capri in the Ford Performance booth.Racers seeking a more robust Coyote engine block will soon have a pair of stout options from Modular Motorsports Racing. Soon MMR will offer billet Coyote blocks in standard and a tall deck heights. The latter is designed to support up to 400 cubes. As you can see, this tall-deck block needs about eight more hours on the CNC machine, but it’s looking great so far.If you want an all-out race car for the road course or the drag strip, Five Star RaceCar Bodies showed off a pair of beauties at the show. One is a Trans Am-style S550 road racer, while the other is a Pro Mod S550.At the moment Holley offers its Sniper sheetmetal intakes for high-winding Three-Valve modulars, but they have a similar intake in the pipeline for rev-happy Coyotes.If you are building a race car, ProCharger introduced a pair of powerful superchargers and a companion blow-off valve. The F-3R-136 is good for up to 3,000 horsepower and if that’s not enough, the F-3X-143 ups the ante to 3,300 horsepower!Currently available for vehicles like the Corvette, GT-R, and Viper, the tunable DSC Sport programmable controllers are eventually headed for the new Shelby GT350 and GT350R with factory Magneride suspension. These plug ’n play controllers will allow you to custom tune the suspension damping. The company also offers companion damper upgrades for a full suspension upgrade.
