If modifying cars is your thing, Las Vegas is the only place to be this week. The entire automotive aftermarket world converged on Sin City to show off its wares at The SEMA Show, where the F-150, Focus and Mustang won the coveted Hottest Car Awards in their respective categories. Aside from all the glitz and glamour of show vehicles, one of the most important parts of the show is the debut of the new products that we will all lust over in the coming year.
We perused all of the new gear entered into the show’s New Product Showcase, and we found numerous exciting products for Ford Performance vehicles. Several companies are offering new exhaust products, including Kooks Custom Exhaust, which has already devised a set of Tri-Ys for the Shelby GT350’s Voodoo 5.2-liter engine!
We’re sure there’s more cool gear to uncover at the show, but without further adieu, lets check out some of the coolest stuff we found so far…
Airaid
If you have a new F-150 with the 2.7-liter or 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, Airaid is offering an Air Intake Kit for these trucks that features the company’s Sythaflow air filter.
Baer Brakes
The latest Mustangs have impressive brakes, but there’s always a little room for improvement. Baer Brakes is ready to up the stopping ante with its 2015 Mustang GT Performance Package Front EradiSpeed+ (PN 2261042). These two-piece rotors are slotted, drilled and zinc plated, and they are direct replacements for the factory units. If drag racing is your thing, the company also offers its SS4+ Front Drag Spec Brake System (PN 4261428) for the S550. These four-piston brakes mount to the factory spindle and allow for the uses of 11.65-inch rotors that will clear drag wheels.
DCI Performance Products
We haven’t heard of people complaining about heat entering the cabin of their 2015+ Mustangs, but perhaps in racing environs this might be a concern. As such, DCI Performance Products is offering its 2015 S550 Mustang Underbody Heatshield Kit (PN HSK-MUSTS550), which is said to “significantly reduce cabin and console temperatures.â€
Edelbrock
There’s now another new forced-induction option for the latest Mustang GTs. Edelbrock developed its Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger for 2015 5.0-liter equipped Ford Mustangs (PN 1586). Based on the popular 2.3-liter TVS rotor pack, the new system features a dual-pass, three-core intercooler that is said to offer 45-percent more surface area than the company’s last system. The company also released a new cast-aluminum intake manifold dubbed the Victor II 5.0, which bears some resemblance to the Boss intake. This rugged intake features cast-in nitrous bosses and is designed to clear the strut brace and the 2015 Mustang hood. The company says a 5.0 with long-tube headers, a 90mm throttle body, and this intake produced 470 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque.
Gibson Performance Exhaust
Whether you have a new EcoBoost Mustang or an older Coyote, Gibson Performance is looking out for your. The company’s 2015-2016 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Dual Rear Exhaust (PN 619014-B) is said to deliver an additional 30 horsepower and 40 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, its 2011-2015 Ford Mustang GT 2.0-inch Long-Tube Race Headers (PN GP238S-C) free up some backpressure courtesy of 2-inch primaries and 3.5-inch collectors. Better yet, Gibson says they require no tuning and won’t trigger a check-engine light.
Hellwig
If you want better handling from your S550, Hellwig Products offers its new 2015 Ford Mustang Front Sway Bar (PN 56715). The tubular-steel unit is 1 3/8 inches in diameter and offers three adjustments, a powdercoated finish, and poly bushings.
Holley EFI
It’s not Ford-specific, but Holley EFI’s Returnless Drop-In Fuel Module (PN 12-133) allows you to convert any fuel tank or fuel cell into the basis for a returnless fuel system. Enabled by the company’s HydraMat pickup, which eliminates pump starvation. You just install the module, hook up the wires, and you are ready to go without any return lines or regulators.
Kooks Headers & Exhaust
As we mentioned in our introduction, one of the most exciting new products at the show for Ford performance enthusiasts is the 2015 Mustang GT350 5.2-liter Four-Valve 1 3/4x 3-inch Stainless Steel Tri Y Headers from Kooks Custom Exhaust. SVTP readers know that we were clued into Tri-Ys being the ideal setup for the Voodoo engine, so we can’t wait to hear one opened up with these bad boys from Kooks. If you have a new GT, the company also offers its 2015 Mustang GT 5.0L 4V Convertible/Coupe 3-inch Cat-Back (PN 11514101) that features an X-pipe, oval mufflers and polished tips.
Livernois Motorsports & Engineering
If you want a more robust new-school Coyote in your 2015+ Mustang GT, Livernois Motorsports & Engineering is offering a couple of rugged upgrades for these engines. Its Billet Oil Pump Gears (PN 701126) are said to be much stronger than the powered-metal stockers, so they will survive big boost and high rpm. Along those lines, Livernois’ Billet Timing Chain Guides (PN 823129) for the new Coyote are better suited for high-rpm, and said to help prevent chain failure by reducing guide deflection.
Mahle Motorsports
It seems that turning up the power on EcoBoost Mustangs is a growing trend, and Mahle Motorsports is ready to support that with its 2.3-liter EcoBoost PowerPak Piston Kit (PN 197755345). These slipper-skirt forgings feature enlarged ring lands, two layers of friction-reducing coating, and its top ring grooves are hard anodized. The pistons include low-drag rings designed to withstand boost, nitrous or both.
Manley Performance
Another option for boosted-up EcoBoost Mustangs is Manley Performance’s Ford 2.3-liter EcoBoost Platinum Series Pistons (PN 637000C-4). These slugs are forged from high-strength 2618 alloy and feature a moly-coated skirt. Said to be lightweight, they feature offset wrist pins and larger valve notches designed to accommodate valves that are 1mm larger than stock.
Nitrous Express
If a single power adder isn’t enough for your EcoBoost V-6, Nitrous Express released its Nitrous Plate System for Ford 3.5L EcoBoost and 3.7L V-6s (PN 20952). Its plate—which bolts on between the intake manifold and throttle body—uses no spray bars, which is said to improve atomization and distribution. It can be jetted for 35 to 200 additional horsepower.
ProCharger
We are quite familiar with ProCharger’s supercharger offerings for the new Coyote Mustangs, and the company is featuring an i-1-boosted 2016 Mustang in its booth. However, another new supercharger system coming from the company is its ProCharger Stage II Intercooled Supercharger System for 2015 Ford F150 with 5.0L engine (PN 1FY311-SCI). It is said to offer 60 to 70 percent gains from 8 to 9 pounds of boost.
Prothane
If you are driving aggressively, the factory shifter mount is going to move and eventually it might fail. To ward that off, Prothane released its Billet Transmission Mount for 2015 Mustang (PN 6-1615/6-1615-BL) to supplant the stock rubber mount.
Samco Sport
It’s not Ford-specific, but Samco Sport’s Aeroflow Xtreme Hose with Quick Release Coupling is pretty awesome. These connections allow you to easily swap out a radiator or intercooler without using tools!
Seibon
If you love carbon fiber like your author, you are going to dig Seibon’s OEM-Style Carbon Fiber Front Upper Grille for 2010-2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 (PN UG1213FDGT-C). The all-carbon grille features a mounting for the snake emblem and is available with a glossy clearcoat.
SPEC Clutch
If you are going to turn up the boost, you are likely going to need a more robust clutch in your 2.3-liter ’Stang. As such, SPEC is offering its Ford Mustang Ecoboost Clutch Kit (PN SFME3H). The single-disc clutch features a billet disc that supplants the ratcheting stock unit and it is a bolt-on replacement. The street version is said to support up to 670 lb-ft of torque, while the race version is good for up to 820 lb-ft.
Specialty Products
It’s nice to see the older Mustangs with Independent Rear Suspensions getting some love from Specialty Products. The company’s Mustang Cobra Rear xAxis Kit (PN 72062) offers replacements for worn out rear knuckle cross-axis joints, which feature polished, nickel-plated ball, moly-impregnated races, and dust boots all designed to ensure long life.
Top Street Performance
Clearly the Coyote engine is still a force in the performance world, as intake manifolds for the modern 5.0s are still hot. Another new offering is Top Street Performance’s Ford 5.0L/Coyote Manifold (PN 84050). This united is fabricated from T6061 sheet aluminum and features 5.5-inch runners. The throttle body is included.
Trufiber
As a certified carbon-fiber addict, your scribe wants to buy a new Mustang just to install Trufiber’s 2015 Mustang Carbon Fiber Air Intake Tube (PN TC10026-TUBE) for Paxton-supercharged applications. The company also offers a 2015 Mustang Carbon Fiber Engine Cover Kit (PN TC10026-LG222-LG225) that features the a clear, UV-protected finish.
XForce
A new player in the Ford exhaust game is XForce. The company showed off its 2015 Mustang GT Engine-Back System (PN ES-FM15-VMK-EBS) at the show. It features 1 7/8-inch, equal-length headers, high-flow catalytic converters, and Varex mufflers. Those mufflers are described as “adjustable-sound mufflers,†as they feature an internal butterfly valve that can alter the sound of the exhaust from quiet to loud.
Zex
Owners of 2011+ Coyote Mustangs have another power-adder option—the ZEX Perimeter Plate Blackout Nitrous System For Ford Coyote Applications (PN 82406). The bolt-on wet system is said to inject the fuel and nitrous and the ideal angle for maximum performance and safety.
