When you are prepping a car for drag racing, you typically want to bolt on some sticky tires, loosen the front sway bar, and do what you can to get the weight to transfer to the rear wheels and maximize traction. In short, a drag setup is a lot different that a road-racing setup, but if you’ve ever wondered how a supercharged 2015 Mustang GT set up to carve corners would do on the drag strip, Steeda Autosports found out.

Having proven its efficacy on the road course, Steeda took its supercharged project to the drag strip with the same setup and clicked off an 11.25 at 126.78 mph.

“The team at Steeda was curious how our Vortech-supercharged S550 pushing 671 rwhp would do at South Georgia Motorsports Park down the 1,320—while on street tires and still outfitted with our road racing suspension setup (sway bars on full stiffness),” David Jacobs, Director of Optimization at Steeda, said.

Running the car on the strip in the same configuration it ran on the road-course is definitely a way to get some real-world results. You could certainly drive the car from the road course to the drag strip and leave the setup the same across all three. (It definitely sounds like a great idea for some king of Mustang performance competition.) In the case of Steeda’s supercharged S550, the car clicked off an 11-second e.t. on 20-inch Nitto NT05 street tires, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Since we last checked in on this Triple Yellow 2015 Mustang GT, the Steeda crew added a Vortech V-3 Si and cranked up the power to 671 at the rear wheels.

“Even in 80-percent humidity this past weekend at SGMP, our Triple Yellow 2015 Mustang GT didn’t disappoint,” David added. “We ran an 11.25 at 126.78 mph on 20-inch Nitto street tires, and there’s definitely a lot more we can get out of the car with a bit of fine-tuning; this is a daily drivable 671-rwhp monster that’s capable of high 10s all while on the stock fuel pump and full luxuries of the interior.”

Of course, the company isn’t content to stay in the low 11s with the car, so look for hot shoe and Director of Manufacturing at Steeda Autosports, Scott Boda, to work on shaving a few tenths off that e.t. in the near future.
