If you haven’t managed to secure a 2016 Shelby GT350R for yourself, you can bid to win a one-off version with the proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society. That’s right, Ford Motor Company has donated a GT350R to the 2015 Cattle Baron’s Ball, which will take place at Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan, on September 26.
The car in question is a 2016 Shelby GT350R equipped with the optional Electronics Package, which adds most of the options deleted with the R-model, including air conditioning, Sync 3, and navigation. The R also tosses the rear seat, but don’t fret if you want to take the whole crew for a ride in the car if you place the winning bid. That’s because this car will include a new product from Ford Performance Racing Parts—a rear seat kit, which adds a rear seat to a GT350R.
Making this model special is a unique, blue stripe package and matching blue accent stitching on the interior, including that rear seat. It also wears carbon fiber accents.
This year marks the 13th edition of the Cattle Baron’s Ball, which, thus far, has raised over $12.6 million to support the American Cancer Society’s search for a cure. Ford Motor Company is the presenting sponsor of the 2015 edition, and its honorary chair is Ford Group Vice President, Global Purchasing, Hau Tai Tang, whom you may recall from his stint with the Special Vehicle Team.
Among the other prizes being auctioned at this year’s event are lunch with Ford President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Fields, golf with Hau Thai-Tang, an Ultimate VIP Ford Racing Experience for two, a Luxury Vacation Home in the Dominican Republic, Front Row at The Gallery at the 2016 NAIAS, a Grammy Awards Experience for four, a College Football National Championship Experience for four, an American Idol Finale Week Experience for four, and a Super Bowl 50 VIP Experience for two.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the event. You can still bid on the car, or any of the other great auction items. Just contact Julie Strzyzewski at (248) 663-3478 to learn more about the call-in bidding if you are so inclined.
