Galpin Auto Sports takes the Rocket Mustang topless at Pebble Beach

Last November at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, Galpin Auto Sports and Herik Fisker caused quite a stir by revealing a wild, 725-horsepower Mustang with carbon-fiber body enhancements. Dubbed the Rocket, this supercar in Mustang clothing attracted a lot of attention. Over the weekend at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, this team unveiled a new concept—the 2015 Rocket Speedster Concept.

“Henrik’s original design sketches for the Rocket gave me chills and the convertible is no different,” Beau Boeckmann, President of Galpin Motors, said. “This Speedster Concept has added another layer of style to the car without losing an ounce of the incredible beauty of the coupe. It really has been a dream collaboration, combining Henrik’s design execution with the performance and customization expertise of the Galpin Auto Sports team.”

Like its Fastback cousin, the Rocket Speedster is built by GFMI Metalcrafters in Fountain Valley, California. There it is fitted with handcrafted bodywork designed to improve its aerodynamics and cool its massive Brembo brakes. It also gains a carbon fiber hood and a carbon fiber speedster cover that turns the four-seat Rocket into a two-seater.

“When I worked on the Rocket Speedster project with Beau, the creativity sparks were constantly in the air,” Henrik Fisker added. “When I was designing the speedster cover, I gave it extreme sculpture and dynamic lines that flows with the muscular body of the Rocket and created a new interior graphic to go with it. I’m very excited to unveil the Rocket Speedster at the Pebble Beach concept lawn with Beau.”

Not just a concept, but a proof of concept, the Rocket Speedster will be available for sale from Galpin Auto Sports or one of its dealer partners across the world.
