Microsoft to release a Ford GT-themed Xbox One/Forza 6 bundle

Hot on the heels of its surprise introduction at the North American International Auto Show this past January, the new Ford GT was also announced as the cover vehicle for the Forza Motorsport 6. Obviously the new GT, along with its Ford Performance stablemates, the Shelby GT350 and F-150 Raptor, will appear in, the latest version of the popular driving game for Microsoft’s Xbox One console.

“It is an honor to share this historic moment with Ford and celebrate the legacy of the GT by making it the featured cover car of Forza Motorsport 6,” Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said in January. “We’re thrilled to have the unique opportunity to announce Forza Motorsport 6 the day the car debuts—on one of the biggest stages in the automotive industry—and we can’t wait to share more details on the game later this year.”

Well, the time for more details has arrived. Microsoft recently revealed that the Ford GT would not only appear in Forza 6, but it would be the inspiration for a limited-edition version of the Xbox One console.

“Featuring a racing-inspired design with iconic sports car styling and custom automotive sound effects, the Forza Motorsport 6 Limited Edition Console is the first custom console from Xbox with a racing theme,” says the company. “The bundle includes a 1TB hard drive, matching wireless controller with rubberized diamond grips, and a digital copy of Forza Motorsport 6—the most beautiful and comprehensive racing game of this generation—all for $399 in the U.S.

This limited-edition console hits store shelves on September 15 alongside Forza 6, but it is available for preorder right now.
