Thanks to a posting of a beta version of Ford’s Focus configurator that has since been removed, we now know that the 2016 Focus RS should start around $35,000, and top out at about $42,000 if you choose all the options. The pricing is about what we expected for Ford’s hottest hatch. However, if the real RS is not in your budget just yet, you might enjoy driving a virtual RS in Forza Motosport 6 for the Xbox gaming platform.
We already knew that the Ford GT is the cover star of Forza Motorport 6, but there are several other Ford Performance vehicles on the game’s roster. To drive that point home, Ford had The Stig from Top Gear reveal a Focus RS with gamer-customized livery at the Gamescom show in Cologne, Germany, today.
“In Forza Motorsport 6, racing and gaming enthusiasts all over the world will be the first to experience Ford’s new ultra-high-performance supercar, the Ford GT,†Dan Greenawalt, creative director at Turn 10 Studios in Redmond, Washington, said. “In Cologne we’re excited to showcase the real all-new Focus RS clad in a special paint scheme created by the Forza community. During Gamescom, gamers will also get to see the Forza Motorsport 6 cover-car Ford GT in person.â€
Here’s a sample of what the gameplay looks like when you are racing in the rain…
Forza Motorsport 6 is scheduled for release on September 15 and we expect the real Focus RS to bow early next year. So, you can get a headstart by virtually driving the car in the game.
