Not only was the SVTP booth a great place to score a T-shirt and some RTR Night wristbands, but it also offered the opportunity to scope out several of SVTPs in-house project cars, including Project Samhain. This Comp Orange 2015 EcoBoost Mustang features several bolt-on mods, which you will read about in the coming weeks.
While most of the official Mustang Week events are pretty casual, the car show operates on a fixed schedule, as the cars must be judged. As such the cars stream into the parking lot adjoining the Bass Pro Shops at Myrtle Beach Mall in an orderly fashion. Admittance into the car show is limited by the space available, and it often sells out shortly after registration opens. You can see the cars streaming into the show right here… What makes this the event of the week is that these cars are parked in a corral of vendors made up of the top companies in the industry. That means spectators not only have the opportunity to check out some of the coolest Mustangs around, but they can also partake in a veritable mall filled with parts for their cars.
Late Model Restoration leaves a big footprint at Mustang Week. Not only do they sponsor the car show and support numerous awards of excellence, but LMR also covers the event for its web site and social media outlets. Likewise, they take the opportunity to meet their customers. To get people in the company’s tent, they offer several display vehicles—and they definitely know how to pick them. One of the display rides was this stunning red Four-Eye Fox. Its smoothed engine compartment houses an EFI 5.0 wearing a blacked out Vortech supercharge and Trick Flow Street manifold.
SVTP is one of those vendors, and this year we saw strong demand for our “I Survived Mustang Week†T-shirts, as well as the bracelets needed for admittance into that night’s Ready to Rock Night party held at the House of Blues. With support from Monster Energy, Mustang RTR, SCT Performance, and, of course, SVTPerformance, the RTR Night was the place to have fun on Friday night after the car show. There were celebrity guests—including road racer Dean Martin, drag racer Mike Murillo, and drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr.—who helped MC contests, which awarded a number of great prizes from the likes of CJ Pony Parts, Late Model Restoration, Race Star Industries, TMI Products, and SCT Performance. In all, this year’s Mustang Week Friday definitely left us excited to do it all over again in 2016!
We’ve known championship drag racer Mike Murillo since the days of the Super Ford 5.0 Shootout back in the early ’90s. These days, thanks to appearances on Street Outlaws and the production of his own show, House of Grudge, Mike has become quite popular. Set up with SCT Performance at the car show, Mike signed autographs and snapped photos with fans for hours.Another Fox display star was Kody Rydge Smith’s badass black Fox in the TMI Products booth. Inspired by his dad, Ricky Smith, Kody fell in love with Foxes, and the duo created this striking ebony coupe wearing True Forged Wheels and, of course, a TMI interior. Rather than displaying seats, TMI chose to show off cars with their interior bits installed. You can see the interiors in our photo gallery below.
Car Show
As we mentioned in our Drag Night coverage, Amy and Gregg Faulkenberry were displaying their 2015 convertible throughout the Mustang Week events to raise awareness for fibromyalgia. The EcoBoost droptop is modded with goodies from CJ Pony Parts, JLT Performance, Late Model Restoration, and Steeda Autosports.Slammed and supercharged, Dimitry Dinovitser’s 2013 GT was striking thanks the green accents on its black canvas. He made the trip up from Royal Palm Beach, Florida, to show off his blown Coyote.When they say “seeing red,†they might be talking about T.C. Gordy’s 2003 Cobra. We love a Terminator, and his red example is just right. Rolling on CCW wheels and featuring a paint-matched Whipple supercharger and cam covers, it is just right.Thus far it seems that the Coyote Fox is the more popular swap combination, but the SN-95 and New Edge platforms offer great basis for the swap, as evidenced by Michael Globoke’s 2003 Mustang GT. It might sport a Terminator nose, but the Four-Valve underhood is a Coyote breathing through a paint-matched JLT cold air intake.It’s real and it’s fabulous. That’s right, Chad Windfield’s is a real 1993 Cobra. The Melvins might be offended by the complete reworking of this modern classic, but we found it pretty awesome. After all, how can you go wrong with a massive turbo and a Four-Valve 5.4-liter? So far the car has run low 9s, but the potential is there to run even quicker.Christopher Lung didn’t have far to drive in his Pro Touring 1968 Mustang. He just made the short trip from Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina, to display his amazing ride. Painted in Midnight Blue like a Ford GT, Christopher’s beauty is custom throughout, but it was the ProCharged 5.4-liter engine that got our camera snapping.We are honored to select the SVTP Editor’s Choice award each year at Mustang Week. Sometimes it can be a challenge, but after receiving a tour of Lew Mesta’s 1966 Mustang from its builder Dennis Steppe, we had a front-runner. An anniversary present from his wife, the revamped Mustang features a Hertz Shelby theme and a Coyote engine under the hood.

Ready to Rock Night
After a great day at the car show, there was only one place to be on Friday night—The Deck at the House of Blues. This was the site for the eagerly anticipated Ready to Rock Night party sponsored by Mustang RTR, SCT Performance, and SVTPerformance.com. Amsoil, CJ Pony Parts, JLT Performance, Late Model Restoration, Lethal Performance, MGW Shifters, Sinister Mustangs, and TMI Interiors also helped make it the party a huge success this year.The guests of honor at the Ready to Rock Night were road racer Dean Martin of Rehagen Racing, drag racer Mike Murillo of Murillo Motorsports, and drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. of Mustang RTR. Each has a long list of accomplishments in their genre of motorsport, and all were more than willing to MC our various contests that evening. As you can see, there was quite a crowd participating in the festivities.Monster Energy’s DJ kept the tunes going all night from the tower about the The Deck at the House of Blues and we capture this shot of the party from his perch. Not only did JR mingle with fans and snap photos, but he participated a number of contests, including MC’ing a hilarious break dancing contest. When the Professional Fun Haver is having a good time, you know it’s a great party.
