Keep your 2015+ Mustang differential in check with BMR’s billet bushings

We know the latest Mustangs perform at high level with a smooth, quiet demeanor. That’s great for a street car, but if you have the need for speed you might start pushing a little harder. When you do, the parts that keep your Mustang smooth and quiet will start to move around. Bushings deflect, parts flex, and geometries change. In short, things aren’t where they should be, so they don’t work like they should.
One example are the soft, voided bushings that mount the Super 8.8 differential housing in the new Mustang’s IRS cradle. Meant to shield drivers and passengers from driveline noise and vibrations, they can become a liability when traction is you priority. There are numerous solutions on the market to calm differential movement, but if you are planning to race or you just want to lock down the diff, BMR Suspension has some new pieces for you.
“BMR’s Billet Aluminum Differential Bushings offer huge increases in performance over the stock rubber bushings. The OE bushings are designed with air pockets and are made from soft rubber. These ‘voids,’ coupled with soft material produce excessive differential movement during normal and aggressive driving,†says the company. “BMR’s billet aluminum differential bushings replace the entire OE rubber bushing, eliminating differential movement by replacing the soft rubber OE bushings with four solid two-piece aluminum bushings. This eliminates all differential movement, reducing wheel hop and increases handling stability, while giving you a much-improved overall feel in any performance driving situation.â€
Available with a black anodized finish, these aluminum bushings (PN BK050; $109.95) should install in four hours or less. Be warned that mounting the diff with aluminum bushings will add a bit of noise, vibration, and harshness to your Mustang, but if it’s bound for the racetrack, that’s likely not a concern.
