BBK Performance gains power with its S550 CAI, throttle body, and exhaust

Since the days of Fox Mustangs, the name BBK Performance has been synonymous with bolt-on performance parts for our favorite pony car. Naturally, the company is hard at work testing its ever-increasing lineup of go-fast gear. BBK recently offered a window into that testing via a video that details the results of adding its new induction parts to a stock 2015 Mustang GT.

Here’s your first look at BBK Performance’s 90mm Power Plus throttle body for the 2015 Mustang GT. Like its predecessors, this is a complete bolt-on unit, right down to the electronics. However, this is not a carryover 2011-2014 part, it is designed specifically for the latest Coyote engine.

The parts in question are the company’s new Power Plus 90mm throttle body and cold-air intake system. These parts haven’t hit the market just yet, but it looks like they will soon be available, and they added some nice gains without requiring any tuning.

In addition to the induction bolt-ons for the new Mustang GT, BBK Performance is also developing a wide-range of S550 bolt-ons. Those parts include V6 cold-air intakes and EcoBoost cold air intakes, as well as throttle bodies for all the 2015 Mustang variants—EcoBoost, V6, and GT. They are also working on exhaust parts, like downpipes for the EcoBoost and long-tube headers for the GT. In fact, as mentioned in the video, the next phase in this Mustang GT build is the complete BBK Varitune exhaust system, which offers easily adjustable exhaust sound.

Installing induction mods on the latest Mustangs is really straightforward. In the case of the BBK Power Plus unit, it’s a simple remove-and-replace operation. BBK even provides new fasteners for its throttle body. The big 90 bolts right in place of the factory 80mm unit.

Likewise, installing a cold-air intake on a new Mustang only requires basic mechanical acumen. Just remove the factory induction and replace it with the new CAI. BBK will provide detailed instructions, and there will undoubtedly be an official install video when these units hit the market. This system will be available in full chrome (PN 1847) or with the company’s Blackout series finish (PN 18475).

With the new throttle body and cold-air induction installed, it was time to hit the dyno, where the otherwise-stock 2015 Mustang GT picked up peak-to-peak gains of 17.7 horsepower and 15 lb-ft of torque.
