The hotly anticipated 2016 Focus RS will make its debut on United States soil at the New York International Auto Show, held April 3-12. Better yet, the car will hit dealer lots in the spring of 2016, so we have just about a year before we can start enjoying its all-wheel-drive prowess in the States.
“This all-wheel-drive system is a breakthrough technology – capable of delivering supreme cornering and handling at the limit,†Dave Pericak, director, Global Ford Performance, said. “We ripped up the rulebook that says all-wheel-drive hatchbacks aren’t fun to drive, and created a car that will surprise and reward in equal measure.â€
Of course, the car will have the power to make the most of that all-wheel drive.
“This very special 2.3-liter EcoBoost unit will inspire drivers as they feel the surge of the turbo, and reward them as they take it to redline – all delivered with a stirring sound guaranteed to put a smile on their face,†Dave added.
With over 315 horsepower and an all-wheel-drive system that can be tweaked with four driving modes, the new Focus RS looks to be one of the most exciting vehicles to hit US shores in some time.
“Customers have begged for the Focus RS to come to the United States for years,†said Raj Nair, group vice president, Global Product Development, Ford Motor Company. “And now we can say that they are getting one of the most innovative, powerful and best-looking RS cars ever. That is special.
“The RS line has a proud history of technical breakthroughs,†Raj added. “It’s a great example of our passion for innovation through performance, and creating vehicles that make people’s hearts pound.â€
