If your S197 Mustang’s rearend is moving around a bit too much when you throw it hard into the corners, you could use an adjustable rear sway bar. As luck would have it, BMR Suspension recently released an adjustable bar for 2005-2014 Mustangs.
According to BMR, its cold-formed bars resist torsional fatigue and retain their intended shape longer than hot-formed bars. With adjustable mounts, these 25mm bars allow you to increase the sway bar rate by 16 to 270 percent.
“The softest setting gives you an 133-percent increase in rate over the stock bar on an ’05-’10 Mustang, and 16-percent increase on ’11-’14, while the stiffest setting is 270-percent stiffer than stock on an ’05-’10 and 84-percent on ’11-’14 models,†says BMR. “These increases allow you to fine-tune the suspension so you can drive harder in any cornering situation without body roll limiting the car’s performance. The hollow design allows for loads of strength without adding a lot of weight.â€
Even if handling isn’t your thing, BMR says its bar is stiff enough to keep your Mustang level during hard launches at the drag strip, but compliant enough to drive it home from the track.
