The race is definitely on to develop parts for the S550 Mustang. Now that real cars are in the hands of enthusiasts and aftermarket companies, it’s only a matter of time before the trickle of parts turns into a deluge. Sure to be part of that movement is Steeda Autosports. The company recently headed to the track with its new 2015 Mustang GT to get the process started.
“We never take shortcuts as we consistently always go the extreme to test and validate our products so you will never be disappointed,†says Steeda. “We track tested our Steeda S550 at Palm Beach International Raceway for NVH levels and handling characteristics compared to the outgoing S197 model—we were surprisingly impressed with the performance of the 2015 Mustang, to say the least.â€
They do this kind of testing for good reason, as pushing a vehicle at the race track can reveal foibles that may remain hidden on the street.
“We purposely embark on a costly and lengthy developmental testing program with the intent of gaining tremendous knowledge about the new Mustang S550 platform—information that could only have been obtained by rigorous and dynamic testing at the track by our seasoned race/development team of drivers,†the company added.
At the front of the line in its product development are cold air intakes and tuning—for both manual and automatic GTs. However, expect to see the suspension and chassis-stiffening enhancements, for which Steeda is known, to follow.
Can’t wait to see what they come up with.
