SCT Performance strikes first with S550 tuning

We were a bit concerned that tuning the 2015 Mustang would hold up the modding fun, but it didn’t take SCT Performance long to get out of the gate with its EcoBoost calibrations. SCT’s Chris Johnson flew up to MRT in Plymouth, Michigan to tune the company’s 2015 Mustang EcoBoost project car.
So now we have our first taste of what can be gained from a performance calibration on Ford’s Gas Direct Injection Turbo 2.3-liter engine.
Considering that the tuned results of 266.24 horsepower and 334.28 lb-ft of torque at the wheels put this car ahead of GTs and Cobras of the past, you have to be impressed.
Better yet, SCT believes there is more on the table, so we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this platform.
Of course, SCT wasn’t done. At its Florida headquarters, head calibrator Matt Alderman was busy dialing in gains on the company’s Mustang GT. The GT baselined with 360.08 horsepower and 343.80 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. After Matt worked his magic, the GT was laying down 384.63 horsepower and 364.32 lb-ft of torque, so the factory definitely left a little bit on the table with the GT as well.
Now the race begins for modded power gains and drag-strip e.t.’s.
Sweet gains. Can’t wait to see what it does with an intake and a turbo-back exhaust.
I’m looking forward to seeing these modded.
was this on 87?
If FRPP or aftermarket come out with a bigger fuel pump, that will really bust the performance door open.
I imagine this car will be a lot like a diesel engine. You’ll have modded stock pumps and belt driven 2nd pumps on the market before too long.
The tuned dyno graph looks much better than stock. Can’t wait to see how it does with a full turbo back exhaust and an intake.
Nice results, I wish the graph was formatted correctly with the HP/TQ on the same axis though…
There is a guy with f150 ecoboost, wired a Walbro 455 pump into his stock tank. Is making 451hp/532tq with stock turbos on E40 mix I believe.
Once real pumps and injectors hit, EcoBoosts will be nuts.
