During the recent Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminar, Ford showed off a number of new technologies it has developed with its supplier partners. Some of this tech is debuting on the 2015 Mustang.
“As part of our One Ford plan, our suppliers are critical to creating profitable growth for all,†Hau Thai-Tang, group vice president, Ford Global Purchasing, said. “With the industry’s highest product refresh rates, commitment to product excellence and innovation, and clear brand positioning, Ford is a preferred customer with the supply base.â€
Among the new Mustang technologies are hydro-formed roof rails and A-pillars and louvered glass quarter windows. While the quarter windows are definitely slick, the hydro-formed steel roof parts actually improve the car’s stiffness and maximize headroom.
“Many technologies on the road today were developed as a result of our supplier relationships,†Hau said. “We will continue to strive to be our suppliers’ customer of choice through our continued new product introductions and emphasis on technology excellence.â€
While the new tech is definitely cool, it also gives us a good reason to show off these videos that Ford released of the 2015 Mustang 50 Years Limited Edition:
Of course, you will be able to bid on and potentially win the last one of these created at the Barrett-Jackson auction in September. You could also try to win one by purchasing a ticket from this raffle by August 13.
I can see those quarter windows being very popular.
Hopefully they won’t be too tough to install.
This is really growing on me! Nice write up.
Thanks GOTSVT!
I think they will grow on everyone when they are rolling down the street, lowered, and wearing aftermarket wheels.
I would buy them in a heartbeat.
