It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for. What options will you choose?

They say the waiting is the hardest part, and for fans of the 2015 Mustang, the wait is getting shorter. After giving us our first peek at the S550 six months back, Ford has finally opened the order banks for the highly anticipated new Mustang. That’s right, you can finally place your orders. Then the wait will continue until “late 2014.â€
“From the six cities around the globe where we revealed the all-new Mustang, to auto shows to the recent 50-year celebration events, we’ve received an amazing response from people when they finally see the new model,†Steve Ling, Ford car marketing manager, said. “This car is all-new with enhanced sophistication and craftsmanship, but it still exudes the essence of Mustang that’s been honed throughout its history.â€
Of course, your big choice will be which engine to put under the hood of your shiny new Mustang. The obvious choice is the upgraded Coyote 5.0, which Ford coyly says makes more than 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. That doesn’t mean those are the final numbers, but that the engine will make at least as much as the outgoing 5.0. We suspect the official numbers will be higher.
Then there is the intriguing Ecoboost 2.3-liter four-cylinder, which we recently sampled in Concord, North Carolina. The possibilities from the light, powerful engine are tantalizing, and the modification upside of a Gas Turbo Direct Injection engine sounds like a lot of fun. The turbo four will make at least 305 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.
For those that just love the styling and aren’t hot for power, there’s the base 3.7-liter V-6 and its more than adequate 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. This model packs a lot of bang for the buck, as it kicks off the 2015 Mustang pricing structure at $24,425. It is followed by the base Ecoboost which starts at $25,995, and the base GT, which starts at $32,925.
We’re pretty sure you’ve already got your heart set on an engine, but the transmission might take some thought. Opting between the six-speed manual and the paddle-shifted six-speed automatic might be a tougher choice than ever for those that like to shift themselves, as the auto allows drivers to shift manually when they choose to.
Now, there are plenty of cool technology options, like navigation and the Blind Spot Information System, but the choices we are eyeballing are the Performance Packs, which add a strut-tower brace; an upgraded radiator; a larger rear sway bar; heavy-duty front springs; oil pressure a vacuum gauges; a K-brace, larger brakes, summer tires, 3.73 gears, a Torsen diff and more. Both EcoBoost and GT variants are can opt for this option.
Now, if you want the 50 Years Limited Edition, we hope you have long been in line to get one of these 1,964 examples, which is available in only Wimbledon White and Kona Blue. This package offers unique interior and exterior trim. Otherwise, options are few.
Of course, for those outside that exclusive group still in the mood to celebrate the Mustang anniversary, they can choose the 50 Years appearance package. It is offered only on Mustang Ecoboost Premium and Mustang GT Premium models. This package adds a chrome-accented grille, a round 50 Years rear badge, 19×8.5-inch wheels, anniversary floor mats, and unique stitching in the seat and door trim.

Used the “leaked” Canadian numbers the other day to configure an EcoStang with the performance pack and the 50th seats. About $34k converted. Not bad.

Dealership submitted order yesterday. I went with the fully loaded GT premium in Guard with Ceramic interior . Unfortunately , I could not get the options of 20×9 rims or black leather interior as Ford only allows you to put certain options with certain packages. I truly believe that Ford needs to change their stance on this practice. Anyone paying this much for a car should be able to order them exactely the way they want them!.
Am I alone? How do you order a vehicle when Ford has yet to release much in terms of technical detail?

I was gonna get the regular seats instead of Recaros because I wanted my heated and cooled seats. I guess you can’t get regular leather seats in Triple yellow or Comp orange.
I think Triple Yellow would be my pick if I were ordering one, 601Mystic04. I hadn’t heard that about the seats.

I think you’re right though Steve. I need to have two total shoulder replacements done. So I’ve spent quite a bit of time studying different designs, surgical techniques, materials, etc. My PC physician completely understands that I want to be sure of the device as well as the surgeon. The problem is that most doctors don’t want to get into technical detail and many of them cannot – beyond the procedure itself. Blind faith simply doesn’t work for me.
I like to analyze a bit myself, but not as much as you. 😉
However, some are just more prone to love at first sight, and I can’t blame them with this car.

Yes the order banks are open for the 2015 mustang. We have ordered several so far. As of right now we are anticipating Sept for production. I like the triple yellow, with the black gloss wheels. Can anyone explain why the TP YEL is an upcharge? Is it the process; it doesn’t look as if it is even metallic! I have 2013 track pack now; deep impact blue, FRP suspension, Recaros and Brenspeed dyno tuned with other susp. mods. Love the car but the 15 is pulling at for many reasons. Love the yellow and I’ll pay for it but like to know more about it.
